Epoxy Garage Flooring

PolySurface's Epoxy garage flooring

What is a Polyurea and Polyaspartic Epoxy Garage Flooring?

Epoxy is a polymer formed of two different components and converted to a solid state by a controlled chemical reaction. Due to this change of mecanical and chemical state, epoxy garage flooring naturally have great resistance.

Polyurea and Polyaspartic epoxy floor coverings are highly adhesive and have an ideal viscosity when changing from liquid to solid, allowing them to create a strong bond with new or old concrete garage flooring.

Polyurea and Polyaspartic epoxy floor coverings are generally applied with a squeegee and a roller.

It is a dense, bacteria and moisture resistant surface that is easy to clean. It has excellent adhesive properties, allowing the application in several layers on different types of soil.

With its unmatched adhesion, strength, finish and trendy design, the epoxy garage flooring is distinguished from other types of concrete flooring.

By choosing Polyurea and Polyaspartic epoxy flooring, you choose the long-term durability of your garage floor covering for many winters with a 20-year warranty.

Epoxy Garage Flooring: How does it work?

Security

The new concrete should dry and harden for a minimum of 30 days to be resistant to the compression of concrete that is at least 3625 pounds per inch and to have a tensile strength of at least 218 psi. Sanding or grinding and complete rinsing are necessary to remove surface laitance arising during the hardening process.

Acid etching may be necessary (followed by a complete rinse) to open the pores of the concrete and better accept the primer.

Old concrete

The surface of the old concrete garage flooring must be cleaned. Sandblasting, grinding or water jetting is highly recommended for removing surface contaminants. All oils and greases must be removed before application.

Acid etching may be necessary (followed by a complete rinse) to open the pores of the concrete and better accept the primer.

Sealing

The epoxide-based crack sealing applies easily to the interior and without harmful vapors. The odor is very low and the adhesion to the concrete is excellent. Polyurea and Polyaspartic epoxy garage coating can be applied within 120 minutes of application.

The epoxy garage coating may include electrostatic protection properties to a variety of soils. This EOS / ESD compliant protection is ideal for :

  • Electronics manufacturing, calibration and repair facilities
  • Manufacturing of electronic components
  • Military facilities
  • Ammunition depots
  • Aircraft hangars
  • Aerospace Industries
  • Pharmaceutical plants
  • Chemical production and storage areas
  • Solvent production and storage areas
  • Oil refineries
  • Areas with explosion hazards (gas, vapor, vapor or fine dust)

Garage Coating with electrostatically conductive epoxy

This water-based epoxide coating is specifically designed for electrostatic conductive coatings on concrete floors. It provides high electrostatic conductivity. Its use is economical and easy to apply for you garage floorings. The conductive properties are independent of the relative humidity. Resistant to a wide range of chemicals including concentrated acids, caustics and solvents, epoxy produces a glossy, durable finish with excellent wear, impact and abrasion resistance. Epoxy is a non-porous, smooth and resistant surface that is easy to clean and allows repeated washings and decontamination cycles.

Epoxy coatings are used in :

  • Manufacturing plants
  • Warehouse
  • Laboratories
  • Dairy products
  • Breweries
  • Chemical plants
  • Paper mills
  • Food processing plants
  • Pharmaceutical manufacturing plants

These epoxy coatings have been approved by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).

Specialized membranes

It is possible to apply a flexible 100% solid epoxy sealing membrane to clog concrete cracks and abrasions.

Flexible Epoxy Sealing Membrane

A two-component hybrid waterproofing membrane made of 100% solid epoxy and urethane is available for waterproofing concrete against water damage. It also offers excellent resistance to chemicals and abrasion for your garage floor coating. This membrane demonstrates excellent mechanical properties such as its elasticity and its resistance to tears. The finish is non-slip, and can be applied without primer and strong odor. This membrane is ideal for :

  • Parking
  • Mechanical Rooms
  • Balcony / Terrace
  • Waste rooms
  • Breweries
  • Stadiums
  • Mezzanines

Seamless waterproof epoxy and urethane membrane

A solventless epoxy and urethane coating is designed to be used as a seamless impermeable membrane to protect concrete and exterior grade plywood. This garage coating is non-slip and resistant to chemicals. It offers excellent durability and abrasion resistance. This system has been approved by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).

This epoxy coating is ideal for :

  • Car parking
  • Mechanical chambers
  • Stadiums
  • Balcony / Terrace
  • Plazas balconies
  • Keystones
  • Acetone

Acetone is a colorless, low-boiling, VOC-free solvent which is miscible in all proportions with water, alcohols, many hydrocarbons and other organic liquids. It is recommended to use as a cleaner / diluent for most epoxy coating systems. For industrial use only.

Cleaner degreaser

An all-purpose grease remover that removes grease, oil, tar wax and dirt. It is biodegradable, non-abrasive, phosphate-free, and non-flammable.

Specialized mortars

Epoxy-based mortar

Epoxy-based mortar for skirting boards and details is manufactured specifically to be placed on vertical surfaces. It is based on a solvent-free epoxy formulation with fine sized aggregates. It provides excellent physical properties in addition to excellent resistance to abrasion and impact. It is used in conjunction with other epoxy systems to create round and continuous wall and floor joints. Highly adherent and mechanical and with a neutral odor, the epoxy mortar allows quick and precise mixing. It is designed specifically for trowel application on vertical surfaces. This system has been approved by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).

Polymer Repair Mortar

Easy to use for horizontal surfaces, fast-setting, polymer-modified cementitious repair mortar can be applied with a trowel. It can be used above and below ground level, directly on concrete, mortar, stone, etc.

Cementitious grout

A quick-set, polymer-modified cementitious slurry for subfloor preparation is also used for exterior grade concrete or plywood surfaces. It is also used above and below ground level, directly on concrete, mortar and stone to level concrete floors and repair the surface before installing a new floor. For indoor use only.

Polymeric sand

High-performance, easy-to-use polymer sand that remains stable in joints, prevents weeds from forming and ants.

Vinyl flakes

Vinyl flakes are 100% compatible with Polyurea and Polyaspartic epoxy coatings. The vinyl flakes are light resistant and can therefore be installed outdoors. Flake systems are designed for applications :

  • Residential
  • Business
  • Light industries such as laboratories,
  • Dining rooms,
  • Cloakrooms,
  • Corridors,
  • Offices
  • Waiting rooms
  • Detention centers.

Project planning and surface preparation

Planning and surface preparation is the most important step in the success of a project in order to build a sustainable and quality system. In order to determine the system necessary for the use of the floor, it is essential to understand the real needs of the customer, especially for performance systems such as static dissipative coatings or waterproofing.

Consider the following points :

  • If the anti-slip is important (affects the ease of cleaning);
  • If mortar plinths are required;
  • If the saw lines and cracks are to be clogged;
  • If there are slopes to create or modify;
